Abstract

The dielectric of an electroluminescent lamp comprises a copolymer of vinylidene fluoride with a perfluoroalkyl perfluorovinyl ether in which the alkyl group has 1-4 carbon atoms or 1,1-difluoroisobutylene. 20-80w./o. phospher may be incorporated in the dielectric. Phosphers mentioned are copper-activated zinc or cadmium sulphide, copper oxide, and boron nitride. A lamp may be formed by placing a sheet of the phospher-containing dielectric on a steel disc, placing a polyethylene terephthalate spacer on the disc around the dielectric, and covering the cell with a tin oxide coated glass sheet.
