554,856. Armour plating. BLEASDALE, J. Aug. 31, 1940, No. 25104/39. Drawings to Specification. [Class 113 (ii)] Armour plating for the protection of tanks or armoured vehicles and aircraft against high velocity projectiles comprises a front layer of granite chippings or shingle enclosed between steel plates, and a rear cushioning layer of sponge rubber or metal shavings with a backing of metal plate or stretched skin. The plate between the two layers may be in the form of chain mail.
