Abstract

554,416. Wall bolts. ALFONSO, E. R. Dec. 30. 1941, No. 16794. [Class 89 (i)] Wall or anchor bolts have a collar or latch pivotally mounted in a cross slot the pivoting being eccentric to allow the latch to fall to transverse position and being such as to allow the latch to slide to the end of the slot. The latch 27, Fig. 1, is'perforated at 28 close to one edge to receive a spring clip 29 with an offset portion 30 that prevents the clip working round to obstruct the bottom of the slot. An additional keeper clip 39 may be provided. After passing through the hole the latch falls to the position shown in Fig. 2 and slides to the end of the slot when the bolt is tightened. A hole 24 in the screwed end of the bolt receives a wire by which short bolts may be pulled back to operative position after the latch has swung. In modifications the latch is not perforated but the hinging is effected by a spring pin clip with outturned ends, or the latch has a fixed transverse pivot engaging the edges of the slot; engaging a cross slot at right angles to the latch slot; or engaging slots formed by the edges of short metal strips surrounding the sides of the latch slot. The latch may have a roughened edge 81 to bear against the wall and a convex back 82 to abut the end of the slot. The back may be gibbed to overhang the end of the slot or may be concave to engage a convex end of the slot.
