[Class 83 (iv)] In a spot welder of the kind in which the electrodes are adjustably mounted in the ends of arms disposed in a vertical plane the upper arm of which is pivoted and operated by a pedal which also controls the welding switch, the transformer is so mounted within the casing as to permit the lower arm to extend in its inner position right across the space of the casing. The position of the arms may thus be adjusted for work of different sizes. The upper arm a is slidable in the arm f of a lever e, f, which is pivoted at k in a bearing m mounted on a slotted horizontal plate q and is operated by a pedal h through a rod i which also closes the switch g. The bearing m is provided with a slotted web to allow for the passage of the lower arm b which is adjustable horizontally and secured in adjusted position in a bearings. The bearing carries a flange r provided with bolts t movable in a pair of slots in the face w of the casing so that the arm may also be vertically adjusted, the face w being also slotted to allow movement of the bearing s therein. The transformer o is placed horizontally and is mounted on pillars p secured to the horizontal plate q. The contactor and contact panels are spaced apart in the casing sufficiently to permit vertical adjustment of the arm b.
