Abstract
552,781. Wire couplings. STEELE, E. C. Dec. 18, 1941, No. 16319. [Class 99 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A device for connecting together ends of a pair of wires comprises co-operating insulating members 1, 2 with longitudinal holes 7, 8, and 9, 10, so positioned that each hole in the members 1 can be brought into register with one of those in the member 2 for the introduction of a pair of wires side by side, and can then be displaced so as to bend and grip the wires when projections and recesses 3, 4, 5, 6 are interengaged. In the construction shown two pairs of wires are so connected and the members 1, 2 have a rotary displacement about a bolt 15 furnished with a spring 18 to press the members together. The holes may pass through the projections and recesses as shown or may be independent. The members 1, 2 may be of any cross-section and one of them may form part of a fitting to which connection is to be made. The projections and recesses may be metal faced.
