552,056. Hydraulic fluids. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. (Du Pont de Nemours & CO., E. I.). Sept. 15, 1941, No. 11771. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A hydraulic fluid for use in a hydraulic coupling comprising a vaned impeller and runner consists of a mixture of one or more trichlorobenzenes with one or more nuclear chlorinated alkyl benzenes. Ethyl polychloro benzenes with trichlorobenzene yield a good mixture, and also other nuclear chlorinated alkyl benzenes such as methyl and propyl polychlorobenzenes may be used with trichlorobenzene. A specific mixture is ethyl tetrachlorobenzene 30 per cent by weight; ethyl pentachlorobenzene 30 per cent by weight; trichlorobenzene 40 per cent by weight. The trichlorobenzene used is preferably the 1:2:4 isomer. Specification 545,356 is referred to.
