Abstract

551,980. Asbestos-cement pipes. RUBEROID CO. July 17, 1941, Nos. 9048 and 9049. Convention dates, Aug. 3, 1940. [Class 99 (ii)] [Also in Group V] The asbestos-cement mix is so extruded that substantially all of the fibres run lengthwise of the extruded pipe. This is effected by disposing blades 30 on a collar 31 fixed to and rotating with the extruding screw 11. The blades are inclined to the axis of rotation of the screw, at the same angle as the thread of the screw, and may be disposed either in front of the core-supporting spider 29 or, as shown, behind the spider. The core is stationarily mounted on a rod 36 fixed to the spider.
