Abstract

551,536. Thermionic valve-holders. UNITEDCARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Sept. 16, 1941, No. 11844. Convention date, Oct. 11, 1940. [Class 38 (i)] A valve holder or like socket for electrical apparatus with a plurality of contacts, has a screening member disposed between certain of the contacts and formed integral with a metal mounting member which is earthed to a metal panel 4. The screening member is in the form of a cup-shaped extension 22 pressed from' the centre of the metal mounting plate 2 and passing through the insulating plates 6, 7 centrally 'of the socket contacts 11 carried thereon. The cup 22 is left attached to the plate 2 by a strip 24, and lugs 27 on the plate are bent up to secure the insulating plates 6, 7. The mounting plate 2 is riveted to a resilient support 3, the edges of the rivet holes being split and bent up to form sharp-edged lugs to improve the bonding between the plate and the support. In a modification the support 3 may be omitted, the mounting member 2 being secured directly to the panel 4. Specification 537,125 is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a modification in which the mounting member 2 is omitted, the screening member 22 being mounted on the insulating plates 6, 7 and connected to the panel 4 by a wire. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
