Abstract

550,725. Anaesthetic &c. appliance. TALLEY, H. A. E. Aug. 20, 1941, No. 10622. Divided out of 549,607. [Class 81 (ii)] Apparatus for the administration of anaesthetics or for use in oxygen therapy comprises a jet and venturi tube as described in Specification 549,607 with an adjustable inlet for the gas or air. As shown, for use in oxygen therapy, the oxygen is supplied to the jet 12a delivering to the venturi tube 13a while air enters through the orifice 12b in a plate 15a into the duct 4 surrounding the jet and tube; the plate 15a is covered by a spring-pressed rotatable plate 15 having a series of apertures of varying sizes, any one of which can be brought into register with the orifice 12b. The tube 13a is connected to a gas bag 7b having a check valve 6a leading to the face mask 17. For use in administering anaesthetics, nitrous oxide is supplied to the jet and oxygen to the adjustable gas inlet which is in the form of a needle valve communicating with a vacuum controlled regulator connected to the oxygen supply.
