Abstract

550,707. Emulsions. BRITISH CELLOPHANE. Ltd. July 18, 1941, No. 9133. Convention date, July 23, 1940. [Class 1 (i)] [Also in Groups VIII and IV] A composition for flame-proofing, softening and sizing non-fibrous cellulosic sheets or films comprises an aqueous solution containing a fireretarding sulphamic compound described in Specification 515,735, [Group VIII], and having in suspension an emulsion of a hard wax or wax-like substance and shellac. Suitable waxes are carnauba, candelilla and montan waxes and stearamide. Suitable emulsifying agents are morpholine stearate or oleate, sodium palmitate and triethanolamine oleate. Surface active agents, e.g. sulphonated kerosene, sulphonated alkyl benzenes or their sodium salts, alkyl naphthalene sulphonic acids end sodium salts of sulphuric acid eters of aliphatic alcohols, may be added.
