Abstract

549,190. Refrigerating. KLEEN, N. E. AF. Dec. 16, 1941, No. 16231. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1940. [Class 29] Absorption systems.-An ice making evaporator 38, 39 and an air cooling evaporator 43 of a domestic 'cabinet are supplied through separate condenser elements 30, 34 from distinct generatorabsorber vessels 17, 24 of two reversing systems operating in the same phases and having a common heat source and a common cooling source and preferably arranged'concentrically as shown. Two such dual systems alternating in phase may be employed, each ice-making compartment containing a part of each ice-making evaporator as shown so that it is continuously cooled. The generator-absorber vessels of each unit are spaced by an annular chamber 20 of the cooling system, an annular flue 26 of a gas &c. heater 27, and another annular chamber 22 of the cooling system, and solid absorbent or adsorbent is retained on trays having a maximum diameter or radial width of 30-35 mm. and a maximum spacing of 5 mm. as set forth in Specification 530,061. The cooling system is of the closed-cycle condensing- evaporating kind, with pockets 57 in the annular chambers constituting the evaporator portion operating to promote ebullition, as set forth in Specification 541,744. A valve 61 for the cooling medium and a fuel valve 67 are connected on a common lever 58 actuated for reversal by a thermostat 70 on the generator absorber, in a manner similar to that described in Specification 540,042. Specification 537,213 also is referred to.
