549,136. Flash lamps for photography. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken). Aug. 23, 1941. No. 10781. [Class 9 (ii)] In flash light lamps which contain a solid combustible material such as aluminium or aliminium and magnesium foil or wire, which reacts actinically with oxygen inside a bulb, the gas filling comprises a mixture of oxygen and nitrous oxide gas containing from 10 to 60 per cent. by volume of nitrous oxide gas. This is stated to lengthen the flash time and to increase the time lag, i.e. the time which elapses between the establishment of the ignition current and the commencement of light development, but this latter may be reduced by increasing the gas pressure from say 23 c.m's to 35 c.m's.
