548,589. Lubricating systems ; rotary engines. RUBURY, J. M., and HAMMOND ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. Aug. 19, 1941. No. 10562. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVI] In rotary pumps &c. with eccentric rotor f and sliding radial vanes g, connection is made from the suction branch a to an unsealed oil reservoir h so that lubricant is drawn to the bearings. The casing a has a suction inlet d with a sight-feed lubricator lconnected with the reservoir h by pipe m, so that oil is supplied to the inflowing air &c. while the pump is running. A flow of oil is also provided by pipes m<SP>1</SP> to each end bearing and the casing end walls by suction through the bearings, and to localize this effect, a groove d<SP>1</SP> is formed in the suction zone of each end wall leading to the end bearings. In a modification the end bearings are lubricated by oil collected from the end walls and drawn through the bearings by pipes connecting the inlet d with the bearings, the tubes m<SP>1</SP> being dispensed with. The slide limbs h<SP>1</SP> of the reservoir h should be so arranged that the upper level of the oil approaches the level of the delivery to the lubricators l.
