Abstract

548,528. Helmet covers. MAXWELL E. C., and NORTH BRITISH RUBBER CO., Ltd. March 10, 1941. Nos. 3256 and 10420. [Class 63] [Also in Group XV] A helmet cover for camouflage or other similar purpose comprises a flexible base or backing provided with a covering of fibre or strip material, the elements of which are of such character, shape and dimensions as to give the appearance of natural vegetation, the said fibre or strip material after attachment to the backing being sprayed or otherwise coated with rubber latex or rubber-like material, or a natural or synthetic rubber or natural or synthetic resin composition, or with a paint or other colouring matter which will withstand weather conditions and be non-injurious to, the backing. The flexible backing may be made, for example, of textile or wire netting or of rubber, and the fibre or strip material may be sisal or other textile material or wood shavings. The cover may be attached by elastic thread or other fastening means to the helmet and may be reversible, the reverse side being coloured brown or yellow to represent earth or sand. Fig. 6 shows the helmet cover, the tufts A<SP>1</SP> being attached to netting F, and a cord or fape E<SP>1</SP> being provided.
