Abstract
548,362. Indicators ; lamp failure alarms. SIMMONDS DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION, Ltd. April 9, 1941, No. 4713. Convention date, April 13, 1940. [Classes 40 (i) and 118 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XI] The lamp of an indicator is arranged to be movable so as to close a circuit for testing itself. The lamp-socket 14 is a press fit in a translucent ring 16. A transparent spacer sleeve 18 carries at its upper end a metal contact button 22 having inner concave surfaces which serve as reflectors. A concave reflector 20 surrounds the sleeve 18 and is engaged by a spring 24 which bears against a metal cross-bar 26, so as to keep the button 22 normally out of contact with the bar 26. A colour screen 44 is included in the path of the reflected light which illuminates the translucent ring 16, unreflected light being prevented from passing to the front of the panel. To test the lamp, its base 12 is pressed so that the button 22 engages the bar 26 and closes a circuit through the lamp and battery 36. If the lamp is defective it can be removed and replaced from the front of the panel. In a modification the illuminated part is in the form of a bulls-eye above the lamp instead of a ring around it.
