Abstract
548,307. Switchgear structures. REYROLLE & CO., Ltd., A., ALLAN, A., and CHRISTIE, J. April 2, 1941, No. 4420. [Class 38 (v)] Each of a number of switchgear panels has a circuit-breaker normally in engagement with a fixed part of the gear and a busbar chamber and feeder chamber each housing an isolating and earthing switch between the circuit-breaker and busbar section or feeder, means being provided whereby isolation of a busbar section from the rest of the bushbar is effected in the bushbar chamber of adjoining panels. The last-named feature is preferably derived from the construction of busbar section set out in Specification 548,306. The panels are arranged side-byside in a row, or in two rows back-to-back and connected to form a ring, Fig. 2 (not shown). The busbars A' ... A<SP>3</SP> are segregated into individual compartments with lateral chambers, as B<SP>2</SP> for busbar A<SP>1</SP>, arranged so as to lie sideby-side below the compartments. Each chamber has an inspection cover B<SP>4</SP> and contains a contact C on an insulating pillar C<SP>1</SP> connected to the busbar by a conductor C<SP>2</SP>. The contacts C are in line below busbar A<SP>2</SP> and above corresponding feeder-contacts G<SP>2</SP> in a feeder chamber G. Isolating arms D, H mounted and operated as in Specification 548,306 are movable to an open earthing position engaging contacts E, E', and a similar contact E' is provided for a similar arm K for a potential transformer L. Alternatively, isolation and earthing may be effected by longitudinally-movable rods. The main breaker F may be permanently fixed, or removable for inspection purposes only.
