Abstract

547,996. Sewing-machines. FAIRWEATHER, W. C. (Singer Manufacturing Co.). Sept. 12, 1941. No. 11728. [Class 112] A feed dog 29 is given feeding movements from a shaft 15 and up-and-down movements from a shaft 36. The shafts are mounted in two cross webs of the machine frame, the variable eccentric operating the shaft 15 is close to the outside of one web and the eccentric operating the shaft 36 is close to the inside of the same web. The feed rocker 22 secured to the shaft 15 is U-shaped, the bottom 32 of the U providing a counterweight and the axis of the shaft passing through the inertia axis of the feed-rocker. The feed bar 26 is pivotally carried between the up-standing limbs of the U and the feed-dog is adjustably secured to it at 30. The feed-bar has an oblique extension 33 connected by a link 34 to an arm 35 on the feed-lift shaft 36.
