Abstract
547,222. Ring spinning machines. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. Feb. 17, 1941, No. 2114. Convention date, Feb. 16, 1940. [Class 120 (ii)] A device for lubricating a spinning ring comprises a plunger pump 15 secured to the ring 10 and a reservoir 11 secured below the ring to supply the pump with lubricant and to collect excess lubricant supplied to the ring. The pump 15 is operated by the rise and fall of the ring rail, a stationary arm on the machine frame engaging the head 27 of the plunger in the upward stroke of the rail and a spring 26 serving to return the plunger during the downward stroke of the rail. The stroke of the plunger is determined by a screw 28. A sloping plate 12 catches the excess oil coming from the ring and directs it into the reservoir. An air cylinder 21 absorbs the shock of the downward stroke of the piston and controls the flow of lubricant into the oil groove 24 arranged above the bearing surface 14. The manifold 21 and holes 23 are filled with wicking or other porous material to prevent oil from spurting from the grooves 24.
