Abstract

546,983. Colour comparison apparatus. PATERSON ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and SMALLEY, W. May 7, 1941, No. 5932. [Class 97 (i)] Colour comparison apparatus, capable of use for testing the chlorine content of water, comprises a liquid container, means permitting viewing in different directions and through different depths of the liquid, and test slips for colour comparison. As shown, a container c, of synthetic resin or other material, has glass &c. windows e, f, g for each compartment; it may, alternatively, consist of an apertured box for the reception of test tubes. The container may be housed, in use, in a moulded synthetic resin cabinet a having holes el, f<SP>1</SP>, permitting horizontal viewing, and holes g<SP>1</SP> and a light-reflecting surface i for vertical viewing ; test slips d comprising synthetic resin holders for differently tinted glasses d<SP>1</SP> may be held in slides h, h<SP>1</SP> in the cabinet. The cabinet may have a compartment a<SP>1</SP> for a reagent bottle b and a compartment a3 for the test slips not in use. For water testing, the reagent may be ortho-tolidine, and the test slips may have various yellow tones for comparison with the treated water. A pipette b<SP>1</SP> embodied in a resin or other cap b2 having a rubber or other compressible compartment b3 may be provided in the bottle. The slips for vertical viewing may be differently formed from those for horizontal viewing to facilitate use, and the slides h<SP>1</SP> and reflector i may form a detachable unit. Specification 314,155, [Class 97 (i)], is referred to.
