Abstract

546,914. Compound sheet material. BALLAMY, L. M., and SHEEPSHANKS, R. H. Feb. 7, 1941, No. 1616. Drawings to Specification. [Classes 96 and 140] In making a compound sheet material comprising fiat sheets secured to and held in special relation by corrugated sheet to form panelled elongated' cells fitted with loosely packed fibre, the fibres are blown into the cells by compressed air. The layers may be of paper, cardboard, plywood or metal and the fibres are preferably kapok. The layers may be connected by adhesives, stitching, rivets, wire staples or tabs. The cells are fitted by closing one end with wire gauze screen and blowing air carrying loose kapok fibres into the cells from the other end. The compressed sheet may comprise two corrugated layers with or without an intermediate flat sheet and the corrugations may be disposed at an angle, e.g. at right angles, to each other.
