Abstract

546,870. Undergarments. ATLAS UNDERWEAR CO. Sept. 19, 1941, No. 12097. Convention date, Nov. 22, 1940. [Class 141] Legless shorts comprise front and back sections 10, 11 connected to an elastic waistband 13, the lower middle part of the front section being formed by a fly insert consisting of side panels 15, 16, and a front panel 17. The inner edge 18 of the panel 16 is free, while one edge 19 of the front section is secured to the adjacent edge of the panel 15 and also to an edge 20 of the panel 16, the other edge 21 of the front section being free. The lower end of the front section is connected to the central edge 23 of the lower end of the back section. The section 17 is formed of knitted material having incorporated in it vertical elastic strands, so that it serves to keep the garment taut at the crotch and to prevent its free edge 21 from gaping. Further, since it forms part of the leg openings, it is not necessary to employ elastic strips usually used to bind these openings.
