Abstract
544,449. Creaming latex. REVERTEX, Ltd. (Metallgesellschaft Akt.-Ges.). Oct. 14, 1940, No. 15240. [Class 70] The creaming of latices of rubber, guttapercha, balata, synthetic rubbers such as derivatives of butadiene or chloroprene or of rubber reclaim is accelerated by the pressure of finely divided solid or gaseous substances. A gas such as air, nitrogen or oxygen, which may be mixed with steam is passed through fritted glass, microporous rubber, or spinnerets into latex containing a creaming agent. The gas may be passed for one or two hours. after which the latex is left to cream. Substances such as hydrogen peroxide or metallic calcium which generate gas may be added to latex, or a froth of rubber dispersion or of creaming agent may be added. Alternatively the latex may be submitted to reduced pressure to cause dissolved gases to be evolved. The creaming may be effected in the presence of solid inert bodies such as glass wool, glass beads, Raschig rings, earthenware fragments or sponge rubber, or inert particles such as sand may be added continuously or intermittently. Specification 337,269, [Class 70], is referred to.
