Abstract

543,853. Adjustable shores and props. BURTON, J. Sept. 12, 1940, No. 14119. [Class 20 (ii)] A prop consists of a tubular body 19, a separate head 13 comprising upstanding edges for fixing to a roof or like girder 11, a clamping screw 16 in one upturned edge, and a tapered spigot 18 projecting from its base, and a screw- and-nut adjusting foot 20, 21, the screw being secured to a bearing plate 27 by a ball-and-socket connection 25, 26 so that the shore is always disposed along the line of load. The nut is irremovably fixed in the tube 19.
