542,801. Beams, slabs &c. SODEN, A. W., and LINCOLN, J. A. April 25, 1940, Nos. 7433, 8825 and 9765. [Classes 20 (iv and 87 (i)] Slabs, blocks, beams and other structures are formed of concrete or other plastic or thermoplastic material, e.g. synthetic resin, reinforced by ordinary or toughened glass rods, strips, wires, threads, straight or twisted or plaited. The wires &c. may be formed into a net or woven, and the reinforcement may also comprise glass plates, corrugated or perforated. As applied to a beam the reinforcement may comprise strips of glass extending vertically on edge from the base to slightly above the neutral axis. It is arranged that the upper edges of the strips are cut edges, the lower edges being selvedges. The wires may be enclosed in a film of plastic material, e.g. a cellulosic ester or ether.
