Abstract
542,276. Knitting-machines. LIEBERKNECHT, R., and LIEBERKNECHT, K. (trading as Lieberknecht, K.). March 31, 1939, No. 10186. Convention date, March 31, 1938. [Class 74 (ii)] A device is provided whereby the thread guide bars can be brought into or out of the working position without stopping the machine. The operation is effected with the aid of the slur bar movement. Fig. 6 shows the frontmost of nine thread guides 70 in the rest position, the brake bar 99 being disconnected from the frontmost carrier bar 21. To move the guide into the working position the bar 21 must be moved to the left so that a selected driving pin 124 on the bar 99 may engage a stop 142 on the bar 21. This is effected by two operations, viz. (1) a stop 26 on the bar 21 is engaged by a selected driving pin 17 mounted in a driving device 1 reciprocable on shafts 2 and 4, and (2) a lug 43 on the driving device 1 is engaged by a driving lug 41 on the slur bar 30 when the latter is in its extreme right position. On the ensuing stroke of the slur bar 30, driving device 1 and bar 21 to the left of the pin 124 engage the stop 142, the pin 17 jumps out of the oblique-sided notch 29 in stop 26, the driving lug 41 is disengaged from the driving device 1 and the slur bar continues its journey leftwards. The driving device 1 comprises cams 11 rotated by a pawl and ratchet 55 from the cam shaft 57 via rod 60, and a lever carrying a roller 59 running on cam 56. The cams 11 control levers 12 which move slides 15 having cam surfaces 19 to raise the pins 17 which are spring-urged downwards. The driving lug 41 is formed on one arm of a bell crank lever 33 rotatably mounted on a shaft 35 journalled in a member secured to the slur bar 30. The other arm of the lever 33 carries a roller 40 which, at the end of the leftward movement of the device 1, engages a cam 47, the lever 33 being thus rocked to disengage the parts 41, 43. The parts 41, 43 are engaged as follows :-A bar 37 is moved downward, a roller 36 then moves counter-clockwise and frees the lever 34 so that member 41 is brought in front of the lug 43 and the driving device 1 is thus traversed with the slur bar 30.
