Abstract
541,757. Moulding dough. HARBER, L: S., and BAKER PERKINS, Ltd. May 8, 1940, No. 8310. [Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group VI] In making laminated bread, such as that described in Specification 400,619, [Group VI], a group of flattened dough pieces is fed in parallel to a baking tin, where they lie with laminae substantially at right angles to the tin. Four lumps of dough D are fed from a prover tray 24 down shoots 25 to a roller 5 having dividing members 23. A roller or rollers 6 flatten the resulting eight pieces of dough, when are then turned through 90 degrees by plates 7 and fall down shoots 9 into a tin 10 into which project partition plates 11. The plates 11 are then retracted out of the tins by linkwork 13, 14, the tin 10 moves forward on the conveyer 19, and the plates 11 enter the next tin. In a modification the intermediate shoots are formed by flared vertically-displaceable guides 9b, Fig. 4. The turning through 90 degrees may be performed partly by the plates 7 and partly by the shoots 9, in which case the shoot members are slightly skewed at their upper ends. The lumps of dough may be subdivided on a flat apron conveyer surface, or eight dough pieces may be fed direct from a prover to flattening means.
