[Classes 55 (i) and 55 (ii)] A transportable gas-producer plant which may be mounted on the vehicle using the gas, or on a trailer, is provided with a liquid gas washing unit, and with a liquid separator for removing liquid entrained in the gas leaving the washer. Fig. 2 shows a gasproducer 13, cooling and dustboxes 15, bubble washer 17, liquid separator 19, and engine 23 mounted on an omnibus 10. The gas enters the washer through a pipe 36, Fig. 4, and passes through holes 29 in the upper part of a well 34 into the water 28 through which it is distributed by a submerged perforated plate 38, before bubbling through the water and passing around baffles 32, 33 to an outlet pipe 42. Some of the water carried by the gas is deposited in an adjacent tank 25, an outlet 53 of the pipe 42 terminating at the surface of the liquid 48. The gas, with a residue of moisture, then passes to the separator 19, Fig. 6, which it enters tangentially from an inlet 63 and passes through a helical passage 60, the deposited water to which collects in an annular trough 65 with an outlet 66 to the bottom of the vessel. The gas then enters the lower part of the chamber and meets baffles 67 which are inclined towards the gas flow to form acute angled pockets open to the interior, and then cleansed and dried gas passes up to an outlet 64 at the top.
