[Class 44] A stud fastening for sheet-metal members, such as aircraft panels, of the kind in which a T-ended stud is passed through registering apertures in the parts to be secured and is engaged with a spring member by rotation through approximately a right angle, has a wire spring member and an apertured back-plate. The stud a, with the usual screw-driver slot for operation, is rotatably anchored to panel c by a retaining plate b secured by rivets. As shown plate b engages in a groove a<1> to hold the.stud against axial movement but allow limited lateral play. In a modification the grooved portion is omitted so that axial play is limited by the head a and the T-forming projections d'. The stud with projections is formed in one piece and the rear faces of the projections are radiused to give cam action in use. The spring member e and base-plate f are riveted to the support d to which panel c is to be connected. Spring e is formed of wire in one piece Fig. 3, or two, Fig. 4. In both cases it presents two substantally parallel limbs, between which the projections d' pass, with terminal eyes a<4> to take the securing rivets, and intermediate off-set parts a' to provide recesses into which the projections snap, in fastened position, to prevent accidental release. The spring is also initially bowed away from support d as seen in Fig. 7, so that when the stud is engaged, parts c, d are pressed together. The back plate has a rectangular hole with its longer dimension disposed to guide the stud between the limbs of the spring prior to rotation of the stud, and support the spring in resisting forcible separation of parts c, d.
