Abstract

541,267. Clamps. MARKS, E. S. Feb. 15, 1940. No. 2907. [Class 44] [Also in Groups X and XIV] A clamp for use in joining pre-formed frames together in the construction of huts, poultry houses, greenhouses, furniture and the like is formed of a sheet metal embracing portion a with portions b c turned up at right angles, and terminating in inturned edges b' which are tapered longitudinally and adapted to engage correspondingly shaped surfaces on the frame, so that relative movement between the clamp and the frames draws the frames together. The shaped surfaces on the frames may be formed as projections d secured to the frame members e, f or may be in the form of inclined grooves cut into the sides of the frame members. The inturned edges may be disposed at right angles to the projecting portion b c or an angle less than a right angle to prevent slip. According to the Provisional Specification a plain metal band has inturned taper edges to coact with tapered projections or lining sheets whereby they are secured together, edge to edge.
