Abstract

541,163. Forging chains. NORTH BRITISH ELECTRIC WELDING CO., Ltd., GLOVER, T. S., SMITH & CO. (POSSIL), Ltd., H., and MACMURCHY, H. S. Sept. 23, 1940, No. 14465. [Class 83 (iv)] Studs for chain links are forged between lateral dies 3, 4 and whilst so held have the ends shaped, together with the formation of anchoring recesses if required, by end working dies 9, 10. The die 4 is fixed, the die 3 is directly actuated by hydraulic pressure, and the die slides 11 are lever actuated from pistons in a common cylinder 14.
