[Class 7 (iv) The electric field set up by the current supplied to the starting-motor is used to enhance the inductive effect in the ignition circuit by reducing its impedance. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the lead K of the starting circuit runs through a core on which is wound a coil L included in the primary circuit of the ignition system. Instead of being connected to the battery B the coil may be arranged in series with the primary winding of a magneto. The lead may run close to the core of a shell transformer carrying the primary and secondary winding of the ignition circuit. A switch actuated by the changes of flux density in the transformer may control the ignition circuits. In Fig. 6 a half-wave rectifier R is located in the primary winding of the ignition circuit. K is the lead of the starting circuit. Fluctuations in the starting motor current strength may act electro-magnetically on an armature associated with the ignition transformer to introduce a gap in the magnetic circuit relatively strengthening the part of the circuit bearing the inductive windings.
