Abstract
540,574. Slipping couplings. LANDIS & GYR SOC. ANON. April 18, 1940, No. 7001. Convention date, Feb. 15. [Class 80 (ii)] A slipping friction coupling for a spring housing, to prevent overwinding of the spring, consists of a coil 9. Fig. 2, of spring wire surrounding a flange 8 on the stationary housing 1, one end of the wire having a hook 10, Fig. 1, by which it is connected to a rotatable disc 7, to which the outer end of the spiral spring 4 is attached. If the winding movement is continued after the spring 4 is fully wound, the coil 9 slips on the surface of the flange 8. The coil may be an expanding spring bearing against the cylindrical wall 3 of the housing, or it may surround the spindle 5 of the spring 4. The parts may be protected against wear by a facing of synthetic resin &c. or the housing may be formed of such material.
