Abstract

540,351. Spray-producers. DEUTSHER, W. A. Sept 12, 1940, No. 14121. [Class 69 (iii)] A regulatable spray nozzle comprises a socket member 2 for attachment to a hose &c. to which is attached a tubular shank 3 within which screws a rod 11 grooved at 17 for the passage of liquid and mounted within a cylindrical nozzle member 10 having an outlet 26. The member 10 is screwed in a stuffing box 6 rotating on the shank 3 longitudinal movement being prevented by a flange 5. The rod 11 may be of square section its angles engaging in grooves cut in the member 10, or alternatively it may be cylindrical and provided with a transverse pin engaging such grooves. The rod 11 carries a water dispersing head 16 and a conical valve 13 to engage a shoulder 24. Rotation of the nozzle 10 causes the rod 11 to move longitudinally therein to vary the spray or to close the valve.
