Abstract

539,333. Lubricating of yarns or filaments. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. March 4, 1940, No. 4017. Convention date, March 4, 1939. [Class 15 (ii)] [Also in Group III] Cellulose ester or ether yarns or filaments are lubricated with a composition comprising a mineral oil, a softening agent for the ester or ether, an aryl phosphate, a higher fatty acid and an alkylolamine. The oil is preferably a water-white mineral oil; the softening agent is preferably a sulphonated vegetable oil, a sulphonated alcohol, an oxidized oil of the type of oxidized sperm, olive, or tea seed oil, or a mixture of any of these, the aryl phosphate is preferably tricresyl higher fatty acid and the alkylolamine are preferably present in substantially equivalent proportions. A small quantity of mineral oil, e.g. sperm oil, or of a higher alcohol or both may be added to the composition. Examples are given.
