Abstract

Textile lubricants comprise the following ingredients, preferably in aqueous emulsion: (a) at least 40 wt. per cent of a synthetic ester lubricating oil, (b) at least 10 wt. per cent of a non-ionic emulsifying agent, and (c) 10-30 wt. per cent of a salt of a dialkylsulphosuccinate. Typical of many specified ingredients are (a) di-(2-ethylhexyl) sebacate, isopropyl palmitate, isocetyl stearate, trimethylolpropane tripelargonate, and pentaerythritol tetrapelargonate; (b) polyethylene glycol monolaurate, sorbitan monolaurate, glyceryl monooleate, and ethylene oxide condensates (up to 15 units) with stearyl alcohol, nonyl phenol, oleamide, and sorbitan monooleate; and (c) sodium di-(tridecyl) sulphosuccinate. Up to 25% of (a) may be replaced by a natural or synthetic wax, e.g. a microcrystalline wax or a polyethylene wax. An antistatic agent may also be present, e.g. a neutral Na, K, NH4 or amine salt of a partial ester of phosphoric acid and a long-chain alcohol. One example also contains a small amount of the condensate of 30 mols. of ethylene oxide with sorbitol trioleate-laurate.
