Abstract

537,125. Thermionic valve holders ; twopart couplings. CINCH MANUFACTURING CORPORATION. Dec. 8, 1939, No. 31801. Convention date, Dec. 17, 1938. [Class 38 (i)] A socket-member for thermionic valves &c. having a number of contacts is fitted with an earthed metal shield arranged between certain of the contacts and connected to one of them. The shield may take the form of a plate 28, Fig. 2, riveted at 14 to the insulating base 2 and made integral with an earthing socket 38. This socket is formed as a bifurcated clip, one arm that is connected to the shield 28 lying against the side of the hole 19 in the base 2. the other arm being free but guided by a slot fitting over the edge of the flat part 29 of the plate 28. The pin that enters the socket 38 is connected to the metal envelope or other part of the valve to be earthed. In another form, the shield is the central metal guide tube 86, Fig. 19, which is in contact with a strip 94 associated with the earthing-socket 92. The strip may also lie in contact with a dished metal body 78 by which insulating base 75, 76 is mounted on a metal panel 82. If the dished metal body is not used, the earthing socket is formed with a tag bent up for soldering to the panel. Specification 530,701 is referred to.
