Abstract

536,541. Door &c. operating-appliances. KING, Ltd., G. W., and KING, D. M. Jan. 2, 1940, No. 129. [Classes 65 (i) and 65 (ii)] A gate &c. 10 is opened by tilting the hinge axis in a vertical plane transverse to the plane of the gate. The socket 12 of one of the hinge pins 14 is carried by a bracket 20 slidably mounted in a guide plate 18 on the gate post 11. The bracket 20 carries a nut engaged by a threaded rod 17 adapted to be rotated by an electric motor 26 through gearing 27, 28 to move the hinge socket across the face 15 of the post 11. The other hinge socket is rotatably mounted in the post to enable it to adjust itself to the tilting of the gate. The latch 36 is operated by a solenoid 37 to release the gate when the motor 26 is energized, as by the passage of a vehicle over pads arranged on each side of the gate. Each pad is connected to a relay housed in a casing 35 on the post 11. Limit switches are provided. Specification 510,092, [Group XXIV], is referred to.
