[Class 98 (i)] In means for synchronizing a flashlight with a photographic shutter, a part of the shutter mechanism carries or forms an electric contact which engages a second contact which is automatically moved into the path of the first when connections are made to the flashlight circuit, but is at other times out of the path of the first contact so as not to interfere with the timing of the shutter for ordinary exposures. As shown applied to a shutter similar to that described in Specification 491,885, a contact pin 4 on the blade-operating ring engages a spring contact 7 when the shutter is released and completes the circuit of the flashlamp 17 through leads attached to a plug 14 screwed into the side of the shutter, connection to the contact 4 being by way of the body of the plug and the shutter parts, and connection to the spring contact 7 being made by a central pin 21 in the plug. The spring contact 21 is normally out of the path of movement of the pin 4, but is forced into the operative position shown by the pin 21 when the plug is inserted.
