Abstract

1,044,912. Photographic cameras with built-in flashlight. EASTMAN KODAK CO. March 28, 1963 [March 28, 1962], No.12307/63. Heading G2A A photographic camera having a lamp socket for releasably securing a flash bulb in firing position has means for indicating in the field of the view finder when an unfired lamp is in the socket and the camera is ready to make a flash exposure. In one embodiment, the view finder has a lens 10, Fig. 1, an opaque mask 12, an eyepiece lens 14, and a transparent movable mask 56 carrying the words "flash" and "daylight". When no lamp 16 is present in socket 18 member 52 is rotated clockwise about pivot 54 to move the mask into a position in which the word "daylight" is visible. When a bulb 16 is inserted in the socket 18 the mask 56 is moved to bring the word "flash" into view. Acutation of a shutter release 58 causes arm 66 to rotate member 52 counter clockwise to return mask 56 to the "daylight" position. To eject a lamp, a lip 26 is raised out of engagement with the lamp by depressing lamp ejector 42. In another embodiment a diaphragm plate 166, Fig. 3 (not shown) is connected by a link 76 to member 52<SP>1</SP>. The plate 166 has apertures 70 and 72 movable into alignment with camera lens 74, such that the larger aperture 70 is aligned with the lens 74 when mask 56<SP>1</SP> is in raised "flash" position and the smaller aperture is aligned with the lens when mask 56<SP>1</SP> is in the lower "daylight" position.
