Abstract

535,509. Hair waving pads. SARTORY, P., and KNIBBS, V. S. March 29, 1940, No. 5679. [Class 64 (ii)] A pad 3, 4, containing solid reagents which react, exothermically with a liquid, applicable to the permanent waving of hair, is provided with a loose or removable sheet or pad 1 of cellulose or other absorbent material mounted upon a perforated sheet 2 of impervious paper. After immersion in the liquid, the sheets 1, 2 are applied to the heating pad so that the sheet 1 lies against the perforated cover 3 enclosing the solid reagent 4. The pad is then applied to the coiled hair with the perforated sheet 2 adjacent to it so that vapour generated may circulate through the hair. As shown, the sheet 1 is unperforated, but it may be perforated. The sheet 2 may be of woven material such as buckram.
