Abstract
535,456. Cooking-apparatus. HUTCHESON, W. W., and MASON, W. C. Feb. 19, 1940, No. 3155. [Class 28 (i)] Potatoes &c. are fed into the upper end of a downwardly-inclined or vertical tube F filled with hot water. Into the base of the tube and at N live steam is introduced. The potatoes &c. travel slowly down the tube to the bottom, where they are removed by an elevator G to heated drying rolls J, K. The temperature at the top of the tube is 212‹ F. and at the bottom higher than 212‹ F. A thermostat P controls the entry of steam at N. The tube may enclose a screw conveyor.
