Abstract

534,123. Adhesive tape applying. KININMONTH, C. P., and ADHESIVE TAPES, Ltd. Dec. 28, 1939, No. 32998. [Class 73] An appliance for affixing adhesive sealing tape to lidded containers is adapted to fold over the severed end of the tape so as to form a tab by which the tape may be removed. For this purpose the container is placed on a table 2 and rotated by hand with the end of the tape 41, led from a supply 42, in contact therewith. The tape passes between a roller 46 and rod 47. When the tape has been applied round the container, the tape, near the container, is brought into contact with a roller 28 having an aperture 48 to which suction is applied from a cylinder 31 the piston of which is operated on the depression of a pedal. In the last part of the stroke the roller is rotated to carry the end of the tape, which has been severed by a simultaneously operated, pivoted knife 9a between the rollers 28 and 49 to fold it.
