[Class 106 (ii)] In apparatus of the hydraulic type having stationary and movable vanes in which power consumption is controlled by sluice gates, passageways G are formed in the vanes a<SP>3</SP> of the stator which open at one end at the vortices set up in the pockets formed by the stationary and moving vanes and at the other end into an annular groove g connected by the pipe g<SP>1</SP> to the water outlet pipe b where the pressure is lower than at the centre of the vortices. Specifications 24949/10 and 11267/11, [both in Class 106 (ii)], are referred to.
