Abstract

532,812. Casting-machines. CLAY CROSS CO., Ltd., and JERVIS, F. July 26, 1939, No. 21776. [Class 83 (i)] A centrifugal casting machine has its mould 1 rocked from an inclined to a horizontal position during pouring. The mould support 14 is pivoted at 5, and connected at one end to a piston 6 by which it is rocked. An extension 14<SP>1</SP> carries an adjustable trough 7 pivoted at 18 to a ladle 8 which has a slotted guide 9 engaged by a pin 25 secured in one of a number of holes 30 drilled in a fixed bracket 20. A charge of metal is poured into the ladle 8 and the piston 6 is actuated to move the rotating mould gradually from the inclined to the horizontal position whereby the metal will flow through the trough and mould to the farther end if the adjustments have been made correctly.
