Abstract

531,731. Fire-extinguishing. FIRE-GARD CORPORATION. July 31, 1939, No. 22181. Convention date, Aug. 29, 1938. [Class 47 (ii)] Fire extinguisher apparatus comprises a container 10 for carbon-tetrachloride having a perforated top 11 for discharging the fluid. The perforations are closed by a metal member 13 the peripheral edge of which is sealed by fusible alloy 14. The member 13 is provided with a pin 16. In the example shown, this pin is supported on a V-shaped bracket 17. A pull on the can 10 disrupts the seal 14 and the apparatus can then be used to spray liquid on the fire. Alternatively, automatic disruption of the seal 14 is accomplished by heat and the can drops to the floor. It is possible to use the apparatus without supporting means. In this case the pin 16 is knocked on any ledge or projection available.
