Abstract

531,711. Automatic amplification control of television receivers. HAZELTINE CORPORATION. July 29, 1939, No. 22091. Convention date, Aug. 26, 1938. [Classes 40 (iii) and 40 (v)] A television receiver is provided with amplification control means for automatically correcting fading signals, said means comprising a byepass delay network 31, Fig. 1, followed by a detector-separator 32 for producing pulses D, Fig. 3, slightly displaced in relation to the synchronizing pulses of the signal, Fig. 2, and of constant amplitude irrespective of the fading from A to A', Fig. 2. The output of the detector separator 32 and the output of the main rectifier 21 are fed together to a detector 42 as well as to the amplifier 15 which leads to the image reproducing device 17. This combined input to the detector 42 is represented by Fig. 4, and the detector yields a control bias, represented by Fig. 5, which is fed to the primary amplifier in the carrier frequency translator 13, for automatic correction of the fading shown at A<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2. A diode 29 is provided as shown in Fig. 1 between the amplifier 15 and the image reproducing device 17, in order to stabilize the black level of the reproducing device.
