Abstract

531,309. Cleaning combs. LYNN, P. J. Aug. 21, 1939, No. 24010. [Class 131] [Also in Groups XXIII and XVII] A comb case comprises two side pieces, 10, 11, Fig. 2, hinged together along one longer edge so as to accommodate the teeth of a comb. The pieces, 10, 11 are provided with bristles 21 to engage and clean the teeth of the comb. Backing plates, 14, 15 to hold the bristles are each formed with a row of oblong apertures 18, 19, Fig. 1, with a slot 20 at each end to accommodate tufts of bristles which are retained by a H-shaped stamping of sheet metal or the like. The stamping is first folded about the centre line of its cross-bar 23, Fig. 8, and its uprights 22 being superposed to constitute legs which are flattened to retain the bristles. The apertures 18, 19, Fig. 1, of each series are parallel but arranged obliquely to the arms of a hinge 12 so that when the case is closed the two sets intersect at the base and radiate.
