Abstract

531,225. Oily preparations of vitamins. GENERAL MILLS, Inc. July 14, 1939, No. 20567. Convention date, Sept. 22, 1938. [Classes 49 and 81 (i)] [Also in Group IV] A vitamin preparation is made by dissolving a water soluble vitamin such as vitamin B1 in a small quantity of water to produce a concentrated solution and emulsifying the solution with a vegetable oil by the aid of an emulsifying agent such as an unsaturated fatty ester of a polyglycerol or lecithin or glycerol laurate, the oil being the external phase. An oil-soluble vitamin may be dissolved in the oil. Preferably the product contains not more than 1 per cent of water. The product may be diluted with more oil and may be sprayed upon cereals or cereal products such as flour and puffed or flaked cereals.
