530,192. Stiffening building-boards. HAY, H. M. June 29, 1939, Nos. 19009/39 and 9803/40. [Classes 20 (iv) and 87 (i)] To prevent sagging after erection, fibre or like building boards are reinforced by flanged metal 1 laths secured to one surface of the board by nails, screws &c. which preferably do not project through the other surface. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the lath is of inverted T-section, the web b<SP>2</SP> and flanges b' having aligned apertures for oblique attachment pins c. In modifications the laths are of channel- or vee-section. To avoid stripping of the thread formed in the board when screws are used for securing the laths, the stems of the screws may be threaded into the laths ; or, as shown in Fig. 10, over-turning of the screw may be prevented by forming the engaging surface of the screwheads and the laths with serrations &c. j<SP>1</SP>, b'.
