[Class 133] A tobacco pouch consists of a double-walled receptacle formed by stitching together outer and inner layers 10, 11, Fig. 2, of oilskin or other thin transparent material over an intermediate thick layer 12 of soft absorbent material, such as flannel or felt adapted to be charged with moisture introduced through valve-controlled openings 40, 41 in telescoped casing members 32, 33 mounted in openings provided in the outer walls 10. The moisture enters the pouch through the interior lines of stitching such as 13. To prevent escape of the moisture through the outer wall the external lines of stitching are coated with plastic waterproof material 26, such as synthetic resin varnish, and to prevent the introduction of too great an amount of moisture, the exposed inner edges of the layer 12 may also be coated at 14<SP>1</SP> with such material. The upper edges of the layers 10, 11 are folded over cord &c. 18 to form co-acting sealing lips 17, and the stringers 21 of a sliding-clasp fastener 22 are engaged in folds of the outer wall. Fig. 4 shows a modified arrangement in which a pipe compartment D is disposed around a tobacco compartment C. In this form the moisture admission valve members extend to the outer walls 42, 44 which are double and have an intermediate layer 43 of leather &c. and the sealing lips 17 and slide fastener are extended down one end to provide a closure for the pipe receptacle.
